Aquafina Plus+ Vitamin Water

by admin on February 22, 2008

Aquafina Plus+ Vitamin WaterI really love the Aquafina Plus+ vitamin water, especially the Passionfruit Citrus. The water comes in three flavours, Blackberry Grape, Pomegranate Cherry, and Passionfruit Citrus and is 591 ml. They recommend drinking two bottles a day, as a vitamin supplement.

It comes with no artificial flavours, and is filled with some nice vitamins. What I find interesting is that it doesn’t have the normal nutritional information, so I am unsure how much sugar I am getting from these drinks, but I really love the taste, so it can’t be a good number.

Here is a rundown of the medicinal ingredients:

  • Vitamin C (ascorbic acid, anhydrous) 148 mg (250% of daily recommended)
  • Vitamin E (dl-alpha-tocopherol acetate) 7.1 IU (30%)
  • B3 Niacin (niacinamide) 5 mg (20%)
  • B5 Pantothernic acid (calcium d-pantothenate) 3.5 mg (50%)
  • B6 Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine hydrocloride) 1.2 mg (70%)
  • B12 Vitamin B12 1.5 mcg (70%)

I never thought I would be interested in these vitamin drinks because I thought it would be silly to buy a drink that was filled with vitamins. Am I getting any benefit from these drinks? I am not sure, but definitely enjoy them. I wish I had the nutritional information to know if I was totally killing my diet with these drinks, or if I could continue to consume them guilt-free.

Okay, I have been drinking this water since it came out. In the time from the regular water and the plus+ water I have lost 83pounds (YES). I have now seen the new Aquafina Plus+ that has come out, Not Happy. Not sure if they are removing the old one or not or just another add to the company. The new one is called Aquafina Plus+ vitamin enhanced water (passionfruit), the old one is Aquafina Plus+ with antioxidant vitamins (passionfruit). The new one has a different texture and a clear colour as the old one is a cream or milky colour and texture is smooth. The new one has an after taste and they better not take the old one away or I simple won’t buy it anymore. Just like everything else when they make something good, they always mess with it thinking they are making it better. Leave the original alone, is what I am thinking. If you haven’t tried it out yet go and do so, you will see the difference and the old one I feel is better.

Hello, i compleatle agree. the old aqufina plus were so much better. Today was my first time trying one of the new ones and i am having a hard time drinking it. It leaves a bad taste after. I am upset they changed them because i use to by the old ones very often, im afraid the aquafina plus company will be loosing one of the costemers.

Its one thing to like how these drinks taste its entirely another to think they actually do something for you beyond general hydration. vitamins degrade in water! pre-mixed drinks packaged in clear bottles lose value if exposed to light. these are both facts proven by science. the jig is up! enhanced drinks cannot maintain their nutritional value from production to shelf to purchase. if they do, its most likely they ave been bombarded with sugars, coloring, and presevatives to mask the taste.

I just read an aritcle last week about a company who is getting ready to launch a new bottle cap technology that twists onto bottled water and drops the active vitamin formula down into the water when you twist it on. Their claim is that is is fresher, and thus more effective. Hey, it makes sense to me! if i can buy a bottle cap for 99c that giving me a fresh and natural dose of vitamins and a water for 75c, to use it with, ive just bought a better (fresher) vitamin drink for a competitive 1.75 that out performs any othr pre-mixed drink on the shelf? YOTSI!!

their website if interested: http://www.drinkyournutrition.com (or) http://www.drinkfresher.com works too i think.

I hope you find this as interesting as i do.

The new Aquafina Plus+ formula tastes TERRIBLE (colors are clear not opaque). Its got a nasty after taste just like drinking liquid antibiotics. Why do cola companies change flavors for no reason? All they accomplish is losing customers.

chris 05.03.08 at 5:35 pm

they change it cause there was like 32 grams of sugar in one serving! a can of coke has 39 grams of sugar soo!! healthy not really! tons of sugar with vitamins well it really does not work the way u think!!! and Kathy Boyle just a tip don’t rely on vitamin water to lose weight! 83 pounds and u think vitamin water did it! don’t make a stupid statement like that! if u drink plain water u will lose weight! tons of people mistake the signs that there body needs water and assume that they are hungry! so they eat! but if u drink alot of water well u will eat less thus losin weight! your dumb if u think it was cause of vitamin water!

If you really want a drink that is actually healthy for you I recommend SoNu Water. I tried it at a small deli in Morristown, NJ and it’s a great beverage for those who enjoy flavored water. It has vitamins + electrolytes and its organic. The best part of this drink is that it has a light taste and it does not have artificial sweeteners or preservatives. If you see it, try it! (I recommned the Mango/Peach) Check SoNu out at http://www.sonubeverages.com

I was wondering if some one could tell me how much sugar is in Aquafina plus and what the percent of sugar in one 473ml

Bob 03.02.09 at 5:40 pm

I know this is old, but people are going to find this on a google search (I know I did):
The amount of sugar in a 591ml bottle of AquaFina plus+ is 24g. Not per 250ml (like a bottle of Coke), it’s 24g total. This information is now available on their bottles. That is, here in Canada it’s on the label.

@Chris: Don’t be a tool. If you’re going to call someone dumb then please try not to butcher the English language in the process. And keep in mind that’s 39g in a 355ml can, and 32g in a 591ml bottle. That’s 54 mg/ml vs 152 mg/ml, a big difference and now that it’s at 24g/591ml it’s at 40mg/ml.

Whether or not this stuff is more benefical than water? I have no idea, and I don’t care.

DRINKING THIS IS DRINKING CANCER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This drink has Vitamin C, and it also has the preservative Sodium Benzoate.

Together there is a chemical reaction and it forms BENZENE (proven carcinogen)

You can Google - sodium benzoate + vitamin C/ benzene in beverages etc to find more info…

Here is an abstract I found on PubMed…

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18460143?ordinalpos=7&itool=EntrezSystem2.PEntrez.Pubmed.Pubmed_ResultsPanel.Pubmed_DefaultReportPanel.Pubmed_RVDocSum

Assessment of potential human health risks posed by benzene in beverages.

ChemRisk, 3420 Executive Center Drive, Suite 114, Austin, TX 78731, USA. lhaws@chemrisk.com

A recent study by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) indicated that some beverages contained benzene at levels above the federal drinking water standard of 5 parts per billion (ppb). In tests conducted by the FDA, Crystal Light Sunrise Classic Orange (CLSCO) was reported to contain benzene levels as high as 87.9 ppb. The purpose of the present study was to better characterize benzene concentrations in CLSCO and to quantify potential human health risks. Twenty-eight samples of CLSCO were obtained from retail stores in Houston, Tex., U.S.A. The mean benzene concentrations in 16 oz original and new formulation bottles were 90 and 0.18 ppb, respectively, while 64-oz bottles contained an average of 3.38 ppb. A variety of exposure scenarios were evaluated to determine potential health risks using both deterministic and probabilistic techniques. In the deterministic analyses, upper bound point estimate cancer risks ranged from 5.4E-6 to 8.7E-8, while hazard indices (HI) ranged from 0.28 to 0.00104. Probabilistic analyses were conducted to develop more realistic cancer risk estimates. In these analyses, the 50th and 95th percentile cancer risk estimates were 3.7E-6 and 8.0E-6, and the 50th and 95th percentile hazard indices were 0.19 and 0.42, respectively. In conclusion, all cancer risk estimates and noncancer hazards met the typical health risk benchmarks established by the U.S. regulatory agencies (1E-4 to 1E-6 for cancer and hazard indices less than 1.0).

Some light reading…

http://www.newmediaexplorer.org/chris/2007/01/04/vitamin_c_sodium_benzoate_benzene_a_proven_carcinogen.htm

“By itself, there’s no evidence the preservative causes any problems in people. However, when you mix sodium benzoate with ascorbic acid (vitamin C), a chemical reaction occurs. It turns the mixture into benzene. And benzene is a proven carcinogen.”

It would be wise to stop drinking this !!
