Hey -

It's David from Lifestyle Beverages, makers of TrimWater. I saw your most recent blogs, and you haven't followed up in a while I hope you have continued your weight loss journey, and that you have gotten control of our emotional spiral and its impact on your health.

You are right, it's a vicious cycle - emotions/eating/emotional about eating/eating some more/more emotions...

But, you can control - when you start to feel that way, try to focus on a singular positive about yourself, and why you started this journey in the first place. Then take a deep breath, and, hopefully, that will help.

It's a struggle, but a worthwhile one -

Good luck and keep fighting...

I asked about the sugar content. It is 26g per 591 ml bottle. Below is the response I got back from Pepsi.

Hi Ian,

It was a pleasure receiving your comments regarding Aquafina Plus Passionfruit Citrus.

We are pleased to hear how much you enjoy Aquafina Plus Passionfruit Citrus. All consumer feedback and suggestions are greatly appreciated. Our Product Manager will be delighted to receive your comments.

Because of the vitamins added into Aquafina Plus, it's classification falls into that of a of Natural Health Product (NHP). NHP is a new category under the Food and Drug Act and all products carrying this designation must undergo a very lengthy approval process. NHP is essentially a mid-point between Food and Drug classifications.

Products are designated as NHP when they contain one or more "active" ingredients. In the case of Aquafina Plus, the active ingredients are the vitamins.

Under NHP regulations, nutritional information is prohibited from being published on the packaging. Instead, the label contains dosage information, as required under the Drug Act.

Per 591mL bottle, Aquafina Plus contains 100 calories, 65mg of sodium and 27g total carbohydrates of which 26g are sugar.

Thank you for the interest you have shown in this product.

The new Aquafina Plus+ formula tastes TERRIBLE (colors are clear not opaque). Its got a nasty after taste just like drinking liquid antibiotics. Why do cola companies change flavors for no reason? All they accomplish is losing customers.

Tom - Totally get where you are coming from, but as I've expressed before, I am not a fan of plain water. I haven't tried the product yet, but I can tell you that it doesn't use artificial sweeteners, which for me is important as they can give me really bad migraines.

As for the cost, I agree. I wouldn't pick these up until they are on store shelves here. Really, I am just lucky to be trying them early, as I've been told that they are trying to get on store shelves up here in the great white north. :)

I have tried the Splenda flavour things as well, and while they are better than the Aspartame laced drink mixes, they only come in Tea flavours, which are all a little off, and aren't really a direct competitor to a product like Trim Water.

As for the environmental impact. I guess there really is no way around that except to pipe Trim Water or a similar product to my home. Though I think that might be a bit excessive as well. :)

Today I will be doing the taste test, and let you know how it goes. Feel free to express yourself however you like. I actually hadn't thought about the cost or the environmental impact before.

As for their website... well, I agree with you there. Flash should be used sparingly. But other than us expert web citizens, who else really knows that?

Ugh. Their site is in flash and slow (sigh).

I've never been a fan of flavoured water - $2.50 (for a case of 12) for 591 ML seems on par with the other drinks in class. I couldn't find shipping cost - the shipping part of their site says "Put here your Shipping & Returns information."

So, I guess they weigh about as much as water, so 12x591ml = ~7.0 litres, and water weighs about 1 kg per litre. Shipping from bloggingweight.com to me (in Ottawa) would range between $15 (3-4 days) and $29 (2 days) per case, raising the cost per unit to between $3.75 and $5.00 per can.

For that price, I'd rather just drink filtered tap water, I think. Might be better to sell the flavouring in packets (not unlike the Splenda flavour packets - which I admittedly haven't tried).. Especially when you think about the environmental impact of shipping water all over the place.

I didn't quite intend to be quite so negative, but.. I guess its one of *those* days. :-/
