Yesterday, I went out with my wife’s friends and ate out at Swiss Chalet. Swiss Chalet used to be my favourite restaurant. I don’t know what it is about the combination of their dipping sauce and the chicken, but since I was a young child, Swiss Chalet to me was better than McDonald’s for most kids.
Usually, I get the quarter chicken meal, all white meat, with a side of fries, a white bun. I also usually get a root beer, which I’ve been known to have as many as eight cups worth with my meal.
Yesterday, I got the quarter chicken meal, which I removed the skin from, with a side of salad, no dressing, and the white bun. For my drink, I got water, which I had two of. It wasn’t as fulfilling as I remember it being, but I felt like I was making my bad choice as healthy as possible. I also didn’t use half as much dipping sauce as I used to, as the dipping sauce is almost like a gravy, and probably the worst thing in the meal.
It is hard to go to restaurants and not fall back on ordering my favourite foods, but with a slight twist, I can satisfy most of my restaurant based cravings, though I try not to eat out too often.
