A little while back, David Sackler from Lifestyle Beverages, Inc. saw my blog posts about Aquafina’s products, and knew that he had something better that could help me with my weight loss goals while allowing me some flavoured beverages in my diet.
He offered to send me some of his Trim Water product, and I agreed to give it my detailed once over. Today, a truck from FedEx showed up with a rather large parcel and much to my surprise it was a full twelve pack of the Trim Water beverage.
I wanted to send out a post thanking Mr. Sackler from Lifestyle Beverages for allowing me to try out their product. I am always on the lookout for products that could help me maintain an enjoyable lifestyle while not increasing my mass.
I also want to take this opportunity to write down my first impressions of the product before diving in to my review regarding the taste and consistency of the products.
The bottles are a good size, and are made of strong plastic, unlike some of the others I’ve held. The design of the wrappers on the bottles is very focused on a man and woman looking happy and healthy, but it doesn’t really feel like it focuses enough on the benefits of the product. It feels more like those giant protein powder kegs rather than competing against Aquafina’s focus on the health benefits.
Trim Water comes in six flavours. I was only expecting to try out two of the six, but I am happy to say that I can give a report on their full line-up. The flavours include Blueberry Pear, Pomegranate Cranberry, Raspberry Vanilla, Pink Grapefruit Honey, Passionfruit Berry, and Lemon Citrus.
The water is clear in colour and the bottles include a nice list of nutrition facts, and ingredients, which can also be found on their website (unlike their competitors). I will be highlighting the nutrition and ingredients of each when I do my taste test, but other than looking more at home at a gym, than on a grocery store shelf, I am very impressed with my first impression of Trim Water.

Ugh. Their site is in flash and slow (sigh).
I’ve never been a fan of flavoured water - $2.50 (for a case of 12) for 591 ML seems on par with the other drinks in class. I couldn’t find shipping cost - the shipping part of their site says “Put here your Shipping & Returns information.”
So, I guess they weigh about as much as water, so 12×591ml = ~7.0 litres, and water weighs about 1 kg per litre. Shipping from bloggingweight.com to me (in Ottawa) would range between $15 (3-4 days) and $29 (2 days) per case, raising the cost per unit to between $3.75 and $5.00 per can.
For that price, I’d rather just drink filtered tap water, I think. Might be better to sell the flavouring in packets (not unlike the Splenda flavour packets - which I admittedly haven’t tried).. Especially when you think about the environmental impact of shipping water all over the place.
I didn’t quite intend to be quite so negative, but.. I guess its one of *those* days. :-/
Tom - Totally get where you are coming from, but as I’ve expressed before, I am not a fan of plain water. I haven’t tried the product yet, but I can tell you that it doesn’t use artificial sweeteners, which for me is important as they can give me really bad migraines.
As for the cost, I agree. I wouldn’t pick these up until they are on store shelves here. Really, I am just lucky to be trying them early, as I’ve been told that they are trying to get on store shelves up here in the great white north.
I have tried the Splenda flavour things as well, and while they are better than the Aspartame laced drink mixes, they only come in Tea flavours, which are all a little off, and aren’t really a direct competitor to a product like Trim Water.
As for the environmental impact. I guess there really is no way around that except to pipe Trim Water or a similar product to my home. Though I think that might be a bit excessive as well.
Today I will be doing the taste test, and let you know how it goes. Feel free to express yourself however you like. I actually hadn’t thought about the cost or the environmental impact before.
As for their website… well, I agree with you there. Flash should be used sparingly. But other than us expert web citizens, who else really knows that?
