After walking all around where my hotel is, two blocks in every direction, I was absolutely starving. Only one real restaurant stood out from the Starbucks, Tim Hortons, and random Deli’s around where I would be staying and that is Relish. Hidden away on the corner of Howe and Nelson, you can find a cozy, modern little spot. The menu features North American, Asian, Mediterranean and West Coast cuisines, and it was very hard to select something.
The prices of course are a bit higher than your average Denny’s or Montana’s, but the service was very polite, and the proximity to the Sheraton Wall Vancouver Centre made it a great little spot to dine at.
I might eat here more than once if the food is good, as I could try out some items I have never had before. One thing that I was tempted to try was one of their smoked salmon dishes, which of course would be using Pacific salmon, something I used to love when I lived on the west coast so many years ago.
I decided instead to get a few belgian waffles with strawberries. Not the most healthy thing on the menu, but I figured it would be relatively light, and after not really eating anything for the last eight hours or so, I didn’t want to eat something heavy. Recovering from the long day of travelling was more important.
To drink I had a water, and thankfully, this restaurant has clean, refreshing water that tasted great.
The food arrived very promptly, and was fairly good. With the portion size I received, it probably not worth the money I was going to have to pay for it, but it was still a nice change from the snacks served on the planes.
I haven’t figured out yet what I am going to do for supper, but I don’t think I will be heading back to the Relish until I start making more money.

David,
Check out .. I think the name is Kelly’s? It’s an Irish Pub over by the steam monument.. I forget exactly where its located but its a notorious irish pub in that area. go grab yourself a beef pie.. its worth it.. regardless of the content in fat or calories; it’ll be worth it.
We abolutely *love* Relish in Vancouver. It was a hidden gem when we first started coming a few years ago but now it’s tough to get a table on weekends. I’m addicted to their BBQ Ribs and my wife really enjoys the seafood hotpot or the salmon. Relish has never let us down and we’ve probably been there 30 times or more!
