I have been a fairly heavy set guy for a long while now, and it has only been getting worse the older I get, and so I have finally realized I must change my path when it comes to food and exercise or I won’t have a comfortable or long life.
Some of you might know me as a full time blogger on a variety of different blogs, David Peralty. I currently work for Splashpress Media as their Head of Marketing, as well as running my own sites and projects.
This blog will hopefully help hold me accountable for my weight loss endeavours by bringing the world into my progress, and hopefully through your support, ideas, and continued scrutiny, I can reach my goal of losing two pounds a week for the next thirty-two weeks, and then maintaining that new weight.
Currently, I am six feet, two inches tall, and a booming 260 pounds. That means I have a BMI (body mass index) of a little over 33. Considering anything over 30 is obese, I think I have a problem.
Sure, the body mass index isn’t always correct, but usually those are extreme issues with people having lots of muscle mass or whatnot. And while I agree that the BMI isn’t a perfect science, it does help us realize if we aren’t at least near a healthier level. My goal weight for this process is 196 pounds, or a total weight loss of 64 pounds.
While this will be the lightest I have been since the middle of high school, I think it could be a very doable goal.
I intend to do a fair bit of research into weight loss, the reasons behind my heavy set self, and I will be working hard on sharing what I learn with all of you.
