I was talking to Ryan of One Big Health Nut and he suggested that we both run away from work for an hour a day to focus on ourselves. We have named this the Three PM Runaway. Every weekday, from three in the afternoon until four he and I will leave our computers, drop whatever we are doing and go for a walk, run, bike ride, head over to the gym, or do other activities to promote the healthy lifestyle we want to have.
I want to invite you all to join us and take the Three PM Runaway challenge, especially if you are in a position to do so. For us web workers, three in the afternoon is basically the start of the second half of our day. Both Ryan and many people I know that work on the web have very long business hours, and not enough focus on personal health and well being.
I hope that this Three PM Runaway, helps spur some extra weight loss, and helps me bring the work-life balance back into a better alignment.

This is a great idea? Not only will the break at 3PM help you increase your activity it will probably make you more productive the rest of the day. I wish my job allowed for a nice break in the middle of the day. I don’t have the time to do a real workout but I do try to get a short walk in over lunch and even that helps my energy level in the afternoon.
Anything you can do to increase your activity will benefit you. Have fun on your 3PM runaway!
