So my wife has finally returned from Belgium, and I couldn’t be happier to see her. The funniest part of her return is the gifts she brought back. I assumed I would get a small block of the finest Belgium chocolate, but instead she began pulling out all sorts of things. From sweet orange and lemon candies, to bags of chips and many chocolate bars.
Cha-Cha
The first thing I got to try was Cha-Cha. It is a strange Kitkat like bar with a bit of caramel or something in it. I was pleasantly surprised by it. It isn’t what I would call premium Belgium chocolate by any stretch of the imagination, but it was good, and my wife brought home over twenty bars of it.
The Cha-Cha chocolate bar is only 27 grams, and is 130 calories. It includes 1.2 grams of protein, 5.7 grams of fat, and 18.1 grams of sugar. Not the healthiest bar in the world, but definitely very tasty.
Lay’s Light Paprika
My wife thought it was interesting that Lay’s a company well known in Canada was also in Europe. Usually, neither of us like “light” products, especially when it comes to chips and stuff. Thankfully, the Lay’s Light Paprika is actually quite good. The flavouring was more like barbeque, which I am not a fan of, but it actually helps cover any of the after taste usually associated with such products.
I only ate four or five chips to taste it, as I didn’t want to ruin the hard work I am already putting into my diet, but I suppose if I am going to eat any chips, it is best that it has 33% less fat.
With both of these, nearly everything written on them is in Dutch, and so difficult for me to decipher alone. The wife got a little annoyed with my constant questioning of “what does this mean”, but she seems very happy to be home.
On a side note, I find it interesting to see how little nutritional information are on any of the products she brought back. I always assumed everyone had to put the same information that we here in Canada label our products with.
We are definitely going to be taking it slow, as it will be a very long time before either of us gets to head back to Belgium. My wife is on board with this blog, and working together on losing weight, so I wouldn’t be surprised if we stretch out what she brought home until Christmas time, ten months from now.
